Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Removal Van Battersea has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not present in our business operations or supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our dealings, and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard against any form of exploitation.
Our Organisation
Removal Van Battersea provides removal, relocation, and associated logistics services to residential and commercial customers. Our operations rely on employees, contractors, and a network of suppliers that provide vehicles, equipment, uniforms, storage facilities, and related services. We recognise that elements of the logistics and transport sector can be at risk of labour exploitation, and we are committed to actively managing these risks.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We maintain a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance stance toward modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, servitude, and all forms of exploitation. This commitment applies to every aspect of our business and to everyone who works with or for us, including employees, agency workers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
No commercial objective, cost saving, or operational pressure will ever justify ignoring or overlooking concerns relating to modern slavery. Where any breach or suspected breach of this policy is identified, we will act promptly, which may include suspending or terminating relationships with individuals or organisations involved and reporting matters to the relevant authorities.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all our suppliers and business partners to operate to the same high ethical standards. Our supplier onboarding process includes a review of labour practices, health and safety standards, and compliance with relevant laws on employment and human rights. Suppliers are required to confirm that they do not engage in any form of modern slavery or human trafficking and that they have their own controls in place to prevent such abuses in their operations and supply chains.
We conduct risk-based audits and assessments of key suppliers, particularly those providing labour-intensive services, such as agency staff, vehicle hire, and storage facilities. These audits may include requests for evidence of employment contracts, right to work checks, proof of wage payments, and policies relating to working hours and conditions. Where issues are identified, we expect suppliers to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe; failure to do so may result in the termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage a culture of openness in which concerns about modern slavery and unethical behaviour can be raised without fear of retaliation. All employees, contractors, and suppliers are encouraged to report any suspicion, concern, or evidence of modern slavery or human trafficking in connection with our operations or supply chains.
Concerns can be raised verbally to a manager, in writing to senior management, or through internal reporting processes. Reports will be treated seriously and sensitively and will be investigated promptly and, where appropriate, in confidence. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith. If a criminal offence is suspected, we will cooperate fully with law enforcement and regulatory authorities.
Training and Awareness
We recognise that preventing modern slavery requires awareness and vigilance. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and supplier management, receive guidance on identifying signs of modern slavery and know how to respond and escalate concerns. We strive to embed respect for human rights and fair employment practices into our day-to-day operations and decision-making processes.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery approach rests with senior management, who ensure that our policies and procedures are implemented, monitored, and improved where necessary. We regularly review our risk assessments and controls, especially when entering new markets, working with new suppliers, or making changes to our operating model.
This statement will be reviewed at least annually to reflect developments in legislation, best practice, and our evolving business activities. As part of this review, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our actions, including supplier audits, training, and reporting mechanisms, and identify opportunities for improvement. Any updates or enhancements to our approach will be approved by senior management and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
By publishing this statement, Removal Van Battersea reaffirms its commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking and to conducting business in a manner that respects and promotes the dignity and rights of all individuals.
